L'Eree Bay
Dog-Friendly Places to Eat Near L'Erée Bay
After exploring the unique shingle bank or enjoying a long, low-tide walk across the sand, you’ll find some fantastic spots to refuel nearby. L'Erée Bay is perfectly positioned on the West Coast, offering a mix of traditional seaside kiosks and warm, welcoming pubs that are well-accustomed to four-legged visitors.
Beachfront Cafes & Kiosks (Perfect for a Quick Bite)
These spots are ideally located for a mid-walk break or a casual treat by the water:
- L'Erée Bay Kiosk: Situated right in the middle of the bay, this is a classic "stop-off" for local dog walkers. With plenty of outdoor bench seating, it is a great place to grab a coffee and a Guernsey ice cream while your dog watches the waves.
- Portelet Beach Kiosk: A short, scenic walk south toward Rocquaine brings you to this sheltered gem. It is a peaceful spot for a sandwich and a drink, tucked away from the main coastal road.
Pubs & Restaurants (For Hearty Meals & Drinks)
If you are looking for a more substantial meal or a place to escape the Atlantic breeze, these nearby venues are famously pet-friendly:
- The L'Erée Bay Hotel: Located directly across from the beach, this hotel is a primary hub for the local dog-walking community. Dogs are welcome in the Bar Area and on the Front Terrace, which offers stunning views across the bay toward Lihou Island.
- The Imperial Hotel: Just a 2-minute drive or a 10-minute coastal walk south to Rocquaine. This historic hotel is exceptionally dog-friendly, with pets welcome in the public bar and on the large terrace overlooking the "Cup and Saucer" (Fort Grey).
Nearby "Hidden Gems" (A Short Walk or Drive)
If you want to head slightly inland for a bit of shelter or a different atmosphere:
- Fleur du Jardin: A 5 to 10-minute drive takes you to this charming "Flower of the Garden" pub in Castel. Known for its high-quality food and very dog-friendly bar and garden, it is an excellent choice for a relaxed lunch.
- Saumarez Park Café: Roughly 10 minutes away by car. If the West Coast winds are a bit fresh, this café offers a sheltered retreat within the beautiful grounds of Saumarez Park.
🐾 Local Expert Tip: The Lihou Causeway Check
While L'Erée is a dog-walking paradise, many visitors are tempted to walk across the causeway to Lihou Island at low tide. Please remember that dogs are strictly prohibited on the causeway and the island itself. To stay on the safe side (and avoid a fine!), stick to the beautiful nature trails around the L’Erée Headland where your pup is more than welcome!
